We've Been Sick!
Our household has been battling a nasty virus/flu and I think we are getting to the end of its survival. It all started Friday afternoon after Gracie woke from her nap and had a 103.2 temp (her high 103.7). We continued to battle all night and she seemed to break them in the early morning and seemed to have a good day on Sat. But when we returned from the game (thank god we didn't drink much) she had a horrible night with temps and sleeping only 20-30 min at a time, waking up bawling, and then us trying to get her back to sleep. How exhausting. She also was grunting so we thought something was wrong. We took her into the Dr.s office on a Sunday and she got the works. Throat swab, blood drawn for cultures and labs, and she had to be catheterized to get a urine sample. It was horrible but luckily everything came back negative and it was decided a virus. She seemed to be doing fine the rest of Sunday and even Monday. And then Monday afternoon I was getting goosebumps on a nice sunny day. Oh yeah, I caught her illness. I experienced chills, fevers (my high 103.0), body aches, dizziness, sore throat, and head ache. It wasn't fun and I don't think I've ever had a temp that high. Anyways, we are on the mend. Gracie is back to normal and I still spiked a temp last night, so hopefully that was my last one. Wash your hands everyone; you don't want this virus thats going around!

Happy 31st Birthday Hoff!
Good Ole Walt Disney!
Gracie was enjoying the beautiful day today; exploring her surroundings outside. When all of a sudden it happened. . . . . Gracie tried to eat dirt! When I picked her up I had a great laugh as she had given herself a dirt mustashe. Her mustashe made me think of Walt Disney or Hitler????? Just Kidding! You're so silly Gracie!

I Love Myself
Harlan Co. Weekend
We went out to Harlan County Reservoir for a weekend getaway. We made it out Saturday and enjoyed sitting on the beach, riding jet skis, drinking beers, and having lots of fun and laughter with friends. We had a great time, as we always do when we all get together. Look at the beautiful sunset we experienced! Meanwhile, back at the ranch(I mean Mom and Dad's house), Gracie was having a blast. There was new toys to play with, she hung out with Papa, Grandma Jo, and Colleen, and played with cousin Lane. They both had a lot of fun rolling around on Lane's new air bed and playing with their little scooters. Lane was good about sharing toys with Gracie. Needless to say, we all had a good weekend and need to do it again soon!

10 Months
We took Gracie out to Mahoney State Park on August 3rd mainly to go to the water park. Boy was that a mistake. After we had paid, the lady told us good luck finding a spot to sit; there's 1900 people in there. It was incredibly crowded, but we managed to squeeze our way into a pool. We avoided the little kid area cause someone pooped in the pool! Disgusting! We decided to come back later that evening (when it wasn't so hot) and we took some pictures of Gracie. It was hard to get her to smile because there was so much for her to look at. Anyways, Gracie is continuing to grow in many ways. She took her first steps on August 5th. That was exciting for all of us. Just out of the blue she walked over to her bounceroo. She still takes little steps here and there, but she's very cautious. She will point to either the cat or dog in her book when we ask her what says, mew, mew or what says ruff, ruff. She really picks up on stuff. We also have gotten some more teeth and have a total of 6 (4 on top, 2 on bottom). We've been transitioning to table food slowly. She still really likes her baby food and that's okay with me. Probably her favorite food is the Parents Choice puffs. She always has room for some of those. She also has hit her attachment phase and will get upset if Hoff or I leave the room. Needless to say, we don't get much done around here. I've been trying to catch up on household chores now that Hoff is at home and can entertain Gracie. Hope all is well with everyone. Enjoy the rest of your summer; fall is approaching fast (Our tree is changing colors already!)

Nine Months Old
Fourth of July
July 4th, 2008
Gracie's 1st fourth was pretty uneventful. We enjoyed family time most of the day. We sat in the driveway with our neighbors, enjoyed a few drinks, and watched Hoff and Justin M. light off the fireworks. Then we drove to the football field and watched Ashland's fireworks, and then to Ironhorse and watched their fireworks. Gracie watched the fireworks, but she wasn't too impressed and only got scared once at a loud boom.
Summer Fun at Colleens Pool
This was Gracie's first real pool experience. We went over to Colleen's apartment (the Links) pool. It is a really nice pool, but the water was actually pretty cold. I was surprised that Gracie loved it. We forgot her little sun hat, but luckily Colleen is a genius and made Gracie a doo rag out of her shirt. It worked real well. We all had a lot of fun watching Gracie enjoy the pool. We'll be back for more fun.
