Husker Volleyball

 The girls attended their first Husker volleyball game vs. St. Louis.

 I think Evie was the most excited.  She loved all the clapping.

 They both loved Little Red.  Gracie got to give him a five.  Evie thought he was cool unless we had to walk by him - then she was scared to death and tried to run away.

 We watched the band warming up for the game.  Evie had to show off some of her gymnastic like moves!

The coliseum was packed and besides the fifty million trips to the bathroom, it was a great time!

Wild Plums!

 We have wild plum bushes down the south side of our driveway and recently, they were ready to be picked!

 It was almost like an Easter egg hunt - some in the trees, some on the ground.

 We all had fun picking them.

 Gracie helped me put them in the bucket.

 Little bit bigger than a grape. They do have a pretty color.

 Even Oscar came out to help!

 UUUGGggggghhhh! They bucket was starting to get heavy with all our plums!

 Evie took this picture - we got about a 1/3 of a 5 gallon bucket.

 And then after some research and phone calls.... I attempted to make jelly.

And it turned out great! I ended up with 30 jars!

Preschool 2012

 Gracie started preschool on August 17th and she was very excited to get back and see all her friends and teachers.

 This is Gracie's teacher Miss Martin.

She found her good friend Andrew. They grew up together at daycare and now are in preschool together!  She has 21 kids in her class and only 7 of them are girls.  They had to divide the class up into two groups - cats and dogs. Gracie is a dog - she's not too happy about that - she would've rather been a cat.

Oscar

 The girls got their first pet....Oscar.  They have been with him all his life as he came from our daycare. He was orphaned at a young age and was mothered by our daycare provider. The girls played with him every time they went over there.

 Gracie gave him the name Oscar.

 They play with him from sun up to sun down.  He is also going to be the fattest kitty in Nebraska cause they think they need to feed him all the time!

 I had to throw this picture in there cause it is so cute and peaceful.

 If you don't know where Evie is, you can usually guess this is what she's doing. I think its so funny how she and Oscar hang out - she has him sit on her lap. Hahahaha.

 But I tell ya, there is not a cat as loved as this one.

He even gets tricycle rides! He's a very good kitty and tolerates all the attention so well.

Saunder's County Fair 2012

 We arrived a little before the carnival rides started going, so we went through the 4-H buildings and the open class building before heading over to the children's petting barn.

 Awww...they had baby chicks there!

 Evie gave her's a kiss!

 Then we went over to check out the poultry barn - they has so many neat looking chickens and we seen a few eggs!

 We had to laugh at this duck - she had a fancy hair-do! Ha!

 The girls loved petting all the bunnies through the cages - mostly disturbing them as they all were resting the the evening heat.

 Then we went over to look at the cows.

 And then the sheep and goats!

 I wish we had gotten over to the rides as soon as they had opened cause hardly anybody was there at first.

 The girls both love the merry-go-round - its their favorite ride.

 We rode on the little tractors.

 The girls were super excited to ride on the rides and then they would get kinda bored with them after awhile.  Next year, Gracie will have to try out the mini roller coaster they have there with her Dad.

 Riding the boat - this was the only ride, besides the merry-go-round that they would sit together - otherwise they got their own seats.

 Of course we had to get some cotton candy and a funnel cake. I like how Evie is eating her cotton candy - hand on hip and all.

 This was a dart game - each little square was worth so many points. It was all fun til Gracie seen the grand prize (worth 15 points) - a stuffed unicorn.  She busted out in tears saying she wanted that unicorn. So, she had to win it - 3 points at a time.

But boy was she ever happy- "I love my new unicorn!" She named it Rainbow.
