Henry Doorly Zoo 2012

We decided to go to the zoo the first weekend in June and we thought since it was Memorial day weekend the week before that maybe, just maybe, the zoo wouldn't be quite as busy. Boy were we wrong. Ugh, so busy. I hate that.  There were lines to get into some of the attractions.
Always like the parrots. Evie said look there's Rio (parrot movie)
Gracie could've fit right in. Hanging around on the vines like a monkey.
The penguins were so fun to watch. They were swimming really fast and jumping up out of the water. So cute!

The aquarium, as always, is a huge hit!

We went to The Artic Imax 3D Movie. Gracie and Evie are really into doing the rock and roll sign. Gracie picked out her outfit to go to the zoo. She is actually wearing a Henry Doorly Zoo t shirt that I wore when I was little.
Ya.....she didn't stay sitting for too long.  The movie was good though and talked about  the changing climate in the artic and how it affects the polar bears and caribou.
The girls really liked the lizard and turtle statues. Notice Evie's face.  This was after we had eaten (doritos) and the place was so busy, they had ran out of napkins. So, she had to walk around with a cheesy orange beard for the rest of the day. Hahahahaha! Just kidding - we found something eventually like an hour later ;)
Every time you go, you have to see somebody you know. The Nelson clan was there braving the crowds :)  It really was a nice day weather wise to go.
We did not bring any sort of stroller, so eventually, the girls both got tired of walking and hot. We were there about 4-41/2 hrs - which was plenty of time!!!
The petting barn was the last stop on our visit to the zoo. Of course, who doesn't love the cute little goats.  Evie was giving them hugs. Then we had to walk up hill alllllllllll the way back to our car. Phew, that place wears me out, but lots of fun.
